15.05.2006, Avis customers across Europe have welcomed the company’s new easy to read Rental Agreement, first introduced in December 2005 as part of Avis’ pan-European programme of Inspired Change.

Murray Hennessy, Chief Executive, Avis Europe, explains: “This was the first initiative in our long-term plan that will eventually ensure that, at every Avis location across Europe, all customers will benefit from a consistently better and faster service. All our information will be presented more clearly and will be available in a choice of eight different European languages, and we will guarantee that there will be no unexpected charges when their rental is over. Every change is made in response to feedback from our customers and our people. Our aim is to lead the car rental industry to change for the better.”

The new Rental Agreement is available at all European airport locations, in a choice of eight different languages. Feedback from customers has been very positive, indicating that the new rental agreement is regarded as a significant improvement, with none of the jargon common throughout the car rental industry.

Those interviewed said that the information is much more customer-friendly and easier to understand, with a big step forward in the clarity of estimated rental charges.

Customers appreciated the ‘one signature solution’ and 95% praised the Agreement for its clarity, with 90% saying that they now felt they had a clear idea of any pre-existing damage on the car they had hired.

Avis’ research has shown that the vast majority of car rental customers are concerned about perceived ‘hidden charges’ when renting a vehicle. The new agreement ensures that customers can understand their bill. A staggering 98% of those surveyed immediately agreed that the new Rental Agreement made it clear exactly how much they would be paying for their rental.

This innovation is in direct response to Avis’ feedback from nearly 13,000 customers across Europe. The new rental agreement is extremely straightforward and makes the rental process easier, quicker and clearer with customers only having to sign once.

Murray continues: “The insight gained from our customers has identified where changes are needed and we are responding. The Rental Agreement has been designed wholly with the customer in mind and is just one of many improvements that will be introduced throughout 2006. Our aim is to restore trust, so that our customers feel that they can clearly understand the terms of the rental before they take the keys.”

The new Rental Agreement clearly details and groups all the rental information the customer needs:

· With a line-by-line breakdown of costs · Vehicle details are clearly presented, with the fuel level displayed at the start of the rental · For price clarity, all costs, mandatory and optional, are grouped together and total prices displayed · The Agreement can be printed in a choice of eight European languages to make sure the customer can clearly understand all the information · The customer only has one document to sign which contains all the information they need · There is a clear damage report · There are no ‘hidden charges’
