03.11.2008, Der Wifag-Polytype Konzern steigt neu in den Digitaldruck ein. Zu diesem Zweck über­nimmt er den Bereich Digital Printing der Firma Spühl/Legget & Platt mit ihren rund 30 Mitarbeitenden in der Schweiz und USA mit Wirkung auf den 1. November 2008.

Dieser neue Bereich wird als Geschäftseinheit WP Digital AG mit Standort Wittenbach bei St.Gallen in die Wifag Polytype Holding AG integriert. Die Wifag Polytype Holding ist mit rund 1500 Mitarbeitenden weltweit in den Geschäftsfeldern Rotationsdruckmaschinen für Zeitungen (WIFAG), Verpackungsdruckmaschinen und Converting Anlagen für die Kosmetik, Food Pharma Industrie (Polytype) sowie im Handel mit graphischen Maschinen und Zubehör (Wifac) tätig.

WP Digital AG konzentriert sich weiterhin auf Entwicklung, Verkauf und Service der digitalen Grossformatdrucker und wird als Kompetenzzentrum für den Digitaldruck in der Wifag Polytype Gruppe wirken. Die Produktion der digitalen Grossformatdrucker erfolgt im Auftrag von WP Digital AG weiterhin durch die Spühl AG.

Durch die Kombination der bestehenden Absatzkanäle mit den Möglichkeiten der Wifag Polytype Gruppe wird ein weiteres Wachstum der WP Digital AG, sowie die Realisierung neuer Anwendungsgebiete durch den Digitaldruck angestrebt.
